BACKGROUND
The Promoting Access of Indigenous People to Decent Work & Social Protection in the Bono East Area of Ghana Project (PRODESOP) is a 4-year social protection project aimed at leveraging on the ginger value chain in Kintampo North Municipality and Kintampo South District; and the fish value chain in the Pru East and Pru West Districts to provide employment for the very poorest within the communities especially women, youth and PWDs to enable them access social protection services. The Project is to provide employment for beneficiaries through skills development, the provision of basic infrastructure and inputs for commercial production, value-addition processes and access to market.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT:
- To promote access to decent work and social protection for indigenous people in the Bono East Area of Ghana.
- To support the creation of decent employment through the development of ginger value chain in Kintampo North Municipal and Kintampo South district; and fish value chain in the Pru East and Pru West districts
- To increase access and quality of service delivery to social protection for women and persons with disabilities in the Bono East Area
PROJECT TARGET
The project focuses on the poorest of the poor and vulnerable (especially female-headed householders, PWDs, unemployed youth and farmers) in the project districts. Targets the poorest of the population within the districts in the informal sector
EXPECTED RESULTS
- At least 1,200 jobs created for 500 Youth, 500 Women, 150 PWDs, and 50 Men by 2023.
- At least 2400 beneficiaries benefitting from NHIS and 600 benefitting from pension schemes by 2023.
- At least 1200 beneficiaries using skills acquired after the end of the project by 2023.
- At least 1200 beneficiaries can access social protection services after the end of the project by 2023.
