DISTRICT PROFILE
The East Mamprusi Municipal Assembly was elevated to municipal status  by the Legislative Instrument (LI) 2274. It is the highest administrative and political body in the Municipal that is charged with the responsibility of formulating and implementing development plans, programmes and projects. It has it capital at Gambaga.

LOCATION AND SIZE
East Mamprusi Municipal is located in the North-Eastern part of the  Northern region. To the North, it shares boundaries with Talensi and Nabdam Districts, Bawku West and Garu-Tempane Districts, all in the Upper East Region and to the East is the Bunkpurugu-Yunyoo District. It is bordered to the West by the West Mamprusi District and the South by Gushiegu District.

POPULATION
The population of the district according to 2010 Population and Housing Census is 121,009 with 59,453 being males and 61,556 females. Agriculture is thier main economic activity
The District currently has 39 Assembly members and it recorded a total revenue of GHc 3579752.58 and an expenditure of GHc 2,271,392.31 as at June 2015.
