DISTRICT PROFILE
The Ga West Municipal was established in 2017 by a Legislative Instrument (L.I.) 2313 with its municipal capital being Amasaman which defines the territorial boundaries of the Municipality. The Municipal was carved out of the former Ga District which was created in 1988 in pursuance of the government decentralization and local government reform policy. In 2004, the Ga District was divided into two Districts namely, Ga East and Ga West.

LOCATION AND SIZE
The Ga West Municipality shares boundaries with the Ga East and the Accra Metropolitan Area to the East, Akwapem South to the North, Ga South to the South and Ga Central to the North-South. It occupies a total land surface area of 299.578 square kilometers.

Hon. Clement Wilkinson is the D.C.E, with Hon. Daniel Darko Doodo as the Presiding number. The district has an assembly of 37 members. The revenue total stood at GHC12,438,596.83 and the expenditure being GHC8,388,815.85. The main economic activity is Agriculture, Trading and Industry.
