ASUTIFI SOUTH

DISTRICT PROFILE
Asutifi South District Assembly is one of the newly created administrative districts in the Brong Ahafo Region. The District was carved out from the then Asutifi District in July, 2012 with Hwidiem as the District capital.  It was established by Legislative Instrument (L.I) 2054.

LOCATION AND SIZE
The District is located in the Western part of Brong Ahafo Region and lies between latitudes 6°40’ and 7°15’ North and Longitudes 2°15’ and 2°45’ West. In terms of land area, the District covers about 597.2440 sq. kilometers. The District shares boundaries with Asutifi North District to the North, Ahafo Ano North District to the East, Asunafo Municipal to the West, Atwima Mponua District to the South-East, and Asunafo South District to the South-West. The District capital Hwidiem is about 3.2 kilometers away from the mother District Capital, Kenyasi.

POPULATION
The population of the district according to 2010 population and housing census stands at 53,584; males (28,285) and females (25,299).
